ABOUT US
Welcome to TaraSUP, the first dedicated paddle board school and tour company in the Tara Canyon. With over 15 years paddle boarding experience we are here to share our passion for SUP, love of nature, and knowledge of this extraordinary area.
The white waters of the Tara have long been attracting rafters, kayakers and canoeists, and now TaraSUP is enabling paddle boarders to joins these ranks of intrepid river explorers. Our mission is to deliver unique and unforgettable paddle boarding experiences in this magical and challenging environment where nature and adventure collide.
With an ASI certified instructor and top of the range NRS whitewater paddle boards, we don’t just teach SUP skills to ride the river, we aim to be at one with it and find that state of flow where everyday distractions cease to exist and the vibrance of life is magnified.
Offering single and multi-day tours for experienced paddlers, we also provide introductory lessons that can take a complete beginner and turn them into a SUPer in as little as an hour. LOCATION
Known as the ‘Tear of Europe’ for its crystal clear, turquoise waters, the Tara River snakes 150 km across Montenegro from the Komovi Mountains in the east to its confluence with the Piva in the north west. For 80km the river descends into the depths of the Tara Canyon, which at 1333m is the second deepest canyon in world after the Grand Canyon. The gorge is protected as part of Durmitor National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognised for its exceptional scenic beauty, fascinating geological heritage and impressive diversity of flora and fauna. A venture into the canyon not only feels like a step back in time but a leap into the wilderness.
Situated in the heart of the canyon, TaraSUP training grounds at Kamp Tara-Top are the ideal setting for total immersion in nature. With class I - III rapids and hiking trails galore located in our backyard, it’s the perfect place to provide adrenalin and fun filled activities while being completely surrounded by breathtaking landscape.
